If you want SUCCESS train your MIND

What is meditation and how can it help you?
Meditation is the act of training the mind.  It is to be engaged in mental exercise for the purpose of a heightened level of awareness.  Long term meditation leads to being able to live with an open mind to present experiences.  Having mental awareness allows an individual to react less impulsively to life’s demands and become more focused on accomplishment and success with less anxiety.  Meditation is a great compliment to physical training. Some benefits include:

·         lower blood pressure
·         improved blood circulation
·         lower heart rate
·         less perspiration
·         slower respiratory rate
·         less anxiety
·         lower blood cortisol levels
·         feelings of well-being
·         less stress
·         improved deep relaxation
How to meditate.

There are countless forms of meditation.  A simple start would be “Observing the Breath”. During meditation you should have a specific focal point the entire time, allowing circulating thoughts to leave your mind.  The focal point in this form is your breath.  Find a comfortable position sitting or lying down.  Do not change your breathing pattern instead be aware of what your chest, rib cage, stomach, shoulders and back are doing.  Concentrate on where the breath is entering and leaving your body.  If your mind should start to wander and become overwhelmed bring your focus back to your breathing patterns.  You can start with a 5 minute exercise and increase over time.  Relaxation is a result of meditation but is not your goal.  Stay focused on the goal, in this case, breathing.

At Fit It In Fitness we understand that mental training is just as important as physical and nutritional training.  We devote an entire day of our schedule to mental training and physical recovery.  Overall this leads to a focus on success and keeps everyone goal oriented.  It has helped tremendously with physical improvement.  Your mental being creates your physical effort.  If you are not ready to accept physical demands you will not gain improvements nor will you have the desire.
Remember your results do not come from doing workout after workout after workout.  They come from recovering and preparing for your workouts.  This includes mental, physical and nutritional focus, strength and stamina.
